A steady outside head for local business
Catalyst is a small advisory practice with a plain purpose. Most owners around the Bay of Plenty aren’t after a consultant with an off-the-shelf template. They want someone who’ll sit down, get to know the business, and help them get on with the right things.
Why “Catalyst”
In chemistry, a catalyst helps a reaction along and comes out the other side unchanged. That’s roughly the role we play. The business is still yours and so are the calls; we’re just the nudge that helps the good ideas happen this year rather than staying up on the whiteboard. If you’re curious how that plays out day to day, our approach spells it out.
How we started
Catalyst grew out of years of hands-on work with owner-operators around Katikati and the Bay of Plenty, the kind of businesses that hold a town together but rarely get time to plan past the next fortnight. The story was often similar: capable people running sound outfits, held back by a few decisions nobody had made and a couple of systems that never quite got sorted. We set the practice up to help with that, close to home. For the bigger picture, here’s the Catalyst overview.
What we believe
Keep it plain
If you can say the advice to your team in a sentence, it’s more use than a report that gets read once.
A few good moves
Two or three things done properly tend to shift a business further than a list of twenty half-done ones.
Local, and in it
We work where you work, and we know the region and the realities of trading here.
Who we help
Our clients are owner-operators and small teams across trades and construction, services, hospitality, retail, growing and light manufacturing, typically from a couple of staff up to around thirty. Some come to us at a genuine crossroads. Others are just worn out from firefighting and want the business to hold together without them touching every part of it. That’s usually where our work together begins.
Where we work
We’re based at the Talisman Centre in Katikati and work across the wider Bay of Plenty, from Tauranga through to Te Puke and Waihi Beach. On-site, at our office, or over a call, whatever fits your week. When it suits, drop us a line and we’ll find a time. Anything you share stays confidential, per our privacy policy.
