Let's Talk

Whether it be waste related data, energy data or data that is needed to calculate a carbon footprint, having effective measurement systems in place will ensure data is collected  and analysed in the right way.

Waste data assessment

Knowing what is in your waste and how much you generate in a year is the first step in addressing waste, which will likely be an area of focus within your sustainability strategy. Improving the way you manage and dispose of it would then follow.

Waste audits are an effective way of measuring quantity and profile. We have a strong network of waste auditors to put you in touch with, and using the data they generate we can help you with strategies to more effectively manage it. These strategies not only ensure waste generation is minimised and recycling programmes optimised, they will have positive outcomes too on your carbon footprint. Win-win-win.

Energy optimisation

Energy audits are a quick and effective way of working out how energy efficient (or inefficient!) your business or organisation is. Done well, an energy audit will not only tell you where you can make improvements in efficiency, but will inform you of the potential carbon savings that can be had. Furthermore, a good auditor will also let you know of capital cost required for each energy improvement initiatives identified and the likely payback period and return on investment.

We work closely with a network of consultants nationwide who specialise in this space. If energy optimisation is a key part of your strategy, let us put you in touch with them.

Carbon footprinting

In today’s current climate, a business would be remiss to exclude carbon footprinting from its sustainability strategy. The task of measuring and managing an organisation’s carbon footprint however is daunting to many. With over 15 years’ experience, we make the task easy.

For a business that is serious about measuring and reducing its carbon footprint, the process for success is as follows:

  1. Scope the boundaries of the measurement – what’s in what’s out. There are international standards that ensure this is done correctly.
  2. Collect the data needed for the measurement. Use a tool to assist with this.
  3. Use the data to measure and report your Baseline footprint, again complying with the standards
  4. Set a reduction target
  5. Identify your carbon hotspots and find and implement initiatives to bring these down
  6. Measure your footprint annually and monitor progress against your target
  7. Offset emissions you are unable to reduce or eliminate (optional)

We can assist with any step of the process, or can sit alongside you and guide you through them all.

We can provide you with the tools you need for collecting the data and calculating your footprint, and have report templates you can use for reporting. Key to success is setting and documenting your Carbon Management Plan. We have reporting frameworks to make this easy.
